Free Vocational Training
Pallimangal Unit of Ramakrishna Mission Sarada Sevashrama, Joyrambati, offers the following vocational trainings to girls and women of nearby villages throughout the year free of any charges. These training courses create self-employment opportunities for them and thereby improve their financial and social status of their families.
After the completion of the trainings the Unit also encourages them with all the instruments and training support to produce new products. These products are also sold through Pallimangal showroom and through this website as well.
This Tailoring course is of one year duration. In this course the students learn the basics of pin, needle and thread. They are introduced to different types of sewing machines used for specific types of sewing needs. They learn the details of fabrics and how to choose a specific type of fabric for a specific type of garment. They are taught hand sewing, hemming and button stitching.
Understanding the measurements for a specific dress is the key component of Tailoring and the students get to learn this through practical projects on making kurti, shirt, trousers, blouse, etc..
After the training is complete few of the trainees are offered new sewing machines to start earning independently. This course is very popular among the students.
This course is of three months duration. In this course the students get to learn the art of knitting and color combinations. They are introduced to different types of knitting yarns and knitting tools. They learn hand-knitting as well as machine-knitting. The course includes many hands on projects on knitting scarfs, sweaters, shawl, woolen cap, etc.
This course is of one year duration. This is a basic course of computer learning. Since computers have become the integral part of our day to day life one cannot ignore this machine. In this course the students learn the basic operation of computer using Windows Operating System. They are taught the regular Office applications like Microsoft Word, Excel, Power Point, etc. They also learn the basics of Desktop Publishing, Image manipulations using Photoshop, etc.
After the completion of this training the students are capable of taking care of the tasks that need to be performed in a standard village office using a computer on a day to day basis. This course is also very popular among the students.
This course on Embroidery is of 3 months duration. Embroidery is an art form with needle and thread and it requires patience to learn. Students, in this course, learn the basics of this art and they get to paint with threads of different colors. They learn hand-embroidery as well as machine-embroidery. This course includes many practical projects on embroidery design on hand bags, kurta, handkerchief, window curtain, etc..
This weaving course is of 6 months duration. Students, in this course, learn everything about weaving using traditional handlooms of eastern India. They lean spinning of yarn, weaving using handloom, etc. They are introduced to the basic art of weaving using different color yarns to produce Sari, Indian Towel (Gamchha), napkins, etc.
After the completion of this training few of the trainees are offered to setup handlooms at their homes so that they can immediately start earning at some capacity. This course is also very popular among the students.
